In Portuguese, the original painting is called “Barco”, or Boat in English. Portugal, despite being a small country, managed to colonize very large portions of land in several continents thanks to the brave discoverers like Vasco da Gama, Gil Eanes and Pedro Alvares Cabral who had thrown themselves to the sea in very fragile ships called “Caravelas” that sail the seas according to the winds.
